Iran's deputy foreign minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi has emphasized that the initial economic shock of America's illegal exit from JCPOA has now subsided.

Iran Press/Asia "We have very good and expanding relations with China, and despite the shock that came after America's withdraw from  the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action joint (JCPOA) to our business relations with our economic partners, these shocks are now a thing of the past, and we have new mechanisms in place for our ties with our economic partners, especially China," Araghchi noted according to Iran Pres

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister speaking to reporters upon arrival at Beijing Airport on Saturday morning, said: "New ways have been found and we are returning to a stable economic environment in relations with China, but we need to remove obstacles to business and trade and to elevate two countries' economic ties to a higher level."

The deputy FM pointed out that the visit was at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart and aimed at continuing political consultations between the two countries on JCPOA, adding: "Since the beginning of the negotiations over the JCPOA, there have been ongoing consultations and exchanges with our friends in China and Russia. The trip follows the deliberations that will take place today and tomorrow in Beijing."

Araghchi described the JCPOA as a serious issue in the international arena, saying because of the failure of the remaining signatory states to fulfill their obligations after the US departure, the agreement is in jeopardy and the Islamic Republic of Iran is not enjoying the benefits which it should have received as part of the deal.

Araghchi added: "After the gradual scaling back of Iran's commitments within JCPOA, the situation requires us to have more serious and closer consultations with our friends."

The deputy foreign minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran stated that we had been in touch with China from the beginning on the subject of the JCPOA, noting that the Joint Commission on the JCPOA would be held on a pre-arranged basis next Friday. Therefore, it was necessary before the meeting of the commission, to review the commission's agenda and coordinate with our colleagues in the Chinese foreign ministry.

Seyyed Abbas Araghchi is due to hold political consultations with his Chinese counterpart on the JCPOA tomorrow (Sunday) at the ministry of foreign affairs in Beijing. 101/211
