Trump decision is controversial

The US House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning Donald Trump's decision to take United States troops out of Syria.

Iran press/America: In a bipartisan rebuke to US President Donald Trump, the US House of Representatives has overwhelmingly passed a resolution condemning his decision to pull United States troops out of Syria, abandoning US allies in the region as Turkish troops have moved in.

The 354-60 vote on the resolution on Wednesday signaled the widespread disapproval among lawmakers for Trump’s latest controversial foreign policy move.

It came as fighting continued in northeastern Syria between Turkey and Kurdish fighters, who have been a key US ally.

The non-binding resolution reiterates the House’s opposition to the pullout of Syria troops and calls on Turkey to stop its military action in the country. Turkish troops made an operation into northern Syria last Wednesday after US President Donald Trump ordered American troops out of the area.

As a matter of fact, on October 9, Ankara launched a new military operation in northern Syria dubbed Peace Spring, which began with airstrikes on positions of Kurdish units.

The objective is to create a buffer zone in northern Syria where Syrian refugees could return from Turkey, Ankara claims. The buffer zone will also establish a security belt along the Turkish border.

The international community condemned Ankara’s actions.
