More than half Americans favour Trump impeachment

An American and British poll shows that half of Americans approve the impeachment of the US President.

Iran PressAmerica:  According to 'CBS News' and 'Yougov' poll 55% of Americans approve the impeachment of the US President Donald Trump.

This poll finds that 55% of Americans support the opening of an impeachment inquiry into US President Donald Trump, while 42% of Americans believe Trump should not be impeached.

87%  of Democrats approve the beginning of an inquiry into President Trump impeachment, and 13% disapprove. Among Republicans, 23% of them approve the President's impeachment while 77% disapprove.

Characterizing the US president's actions, in particular, 31% of Americans say the president's handling of matters with Ukraine may have been improper but were still legal. 28% of Americans believe the president acted properly. While 41% say Trump has acted illegally in the handling matters with Ukraine.

Americans split on whether Trump deserves to be impeached over his actions in the handling of matters with Ukraine and 42% say he does deserve to be impeached while 36% say he does not deserve that. 22% say it's too soon to say, according to the poll.

The CBS poll was conducted between September 26 and 27 on a sample of 2,059 US residents. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.3 points.

On July 25 a telephone call between Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky was made, the US President asked his counterpart to launch an investigation of Democratic presidential hopeful, Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, who had served on the board of a Ukrainian energy company.

The decision to launch a formal impeachment inquiry was triggered by allegations that Trump sought help from a foreign government in his reelection bid for 2020 election.
