Tehran (IP) - The Secretary General of the Petrochemical Industry Employers Association announced the share of petrochemical producers in the country's non-oil exports at 39.6% in the first half of the current year in the Iranian calendar, which began on March 21.

Iran PressIran News: Ahmed Mahdavi-Abhari told reporters on Tuesday that $9.605 billion out of $24.251 bn of non-oil exports belonged to the country's petrochemical industry during the period.

He said the petrochemical industry is the most profitable industry in the country, which should be given special attention for sustainable economic development.

“It was this industry that supported the country’s economy after imposition of the primary sanctions in the 2010s and then after Trump's withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in 2018 and the intensification of the economic war against Iran.”

He added: "Iranian petrochemical companies have no problem exporting petrochemical products and sometimes they even pre-sell exported items."

The Secretary General of the Petrochemical Industry Employers Association stated that today the world is moving towards the use of new technologies and the transformation of petrochemical products into value-added, and continued: “Petrochemical products have a special place in people's daily lives and are increasing every day, so an economic perspective is necessary.”
