Corona and Tourism, most important issue in UNWTO conference

The Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts of Iran met with the Secretary-General of the UN's World Tourism Organization and discussed issues such as the coronavirus containment and the relaunch of tourism activities.

Iran PressAsia: Ali Asghar Shalbafian met with Zurab Pololikashvili on the 15th Asia-Pacific Tourism Policy and Strategies Executive Program of the UN's World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in the Maldives.

The containment of the corona pandemic, resumption of tourism activities such as issuing visas for tourists, and vaccination in Iran were discussed.

Providing technical advice and cooperation, construction of handicrafts and tourism center, Iran's presence in the rural tourism meeting in Morocco in November, and Iran's assistance in the committee for drafting an international code to protect the rights of tourists were the other issues discussed.

The Secretary-General of the UNTWO Zurab Pololikashvili, for his part, called Iran's role in the development of tourism in the region vital and influential and emphasized the continuation of support for Iran's tourism.
