Ali Rabiei, spokesman of Iran's government

Tehran (IP) - The spokesman of Iran's government emphasized that the US administration is responsible for any delay in releasing prisoners on both sides.

Iran PressIran news: According to Iran Press News Agency, Ali Rabiei on Tuesday about the latest situation of the exchange of 10 prisoners between Iran and the United States said: "The Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly announced readiness in recent years to exchange prisoners to protect the human dignity of prisoners and their families."

Rabiei added: "Iran's declaration of readiness was not limited to the administration of the current US President Joe Biden, and if such a thing did not happen until today, it was because the previous and current US administrations were not ready."

The spokesman also said: "It seems that contrary to the understandings reached, the US administration, for reasons that are unclear and unacceptable, has linked the release of prisoners to the (Jiont Comprehensive Plan of Action) JCPOA talks, which in Tehran's view is unnecessary and unfounded."

Rabiei also said: "We encourage the US administration to put aside this unconstructive approach to the rights of prisoners which is more important than current political issues."

According to Rabiei, the US administration is responsible for any delay in the release of prisoners on either side.
