Speaking at the EAEU Intergovernmental Council in Kyrgyzstan, Seyyed Mohammad Atabak delivered a message from the First Vice President, highlighting Iran's determination to deepen economic ties, fully implement the Free Trade Agreement (FTA), and develop transit corridors.
Addressing the council, Atabak condemned the recent U.S. and Israeli aggressions against Iran—noting the martyrdom of the Leader and 168 schoolchildren—as a challenge to fundamental international law. He reaffirmed that Iran seeks peace and stability through regional diplomacy and economic cooperation.
Calling the Iran-EAEU FTA a turning point, Atabak proposed expanding cooperation beyond trade into energy, agriculture, AI, and digital economy. He highlighted Iran's strategic geographical position in connecting North-South and East-West corridors to boost regional supply chain resilience.
Furthermore, the Iranian minister stressed the importance of financial independence, urging member states to form specialized working groups to share experiences on Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) and alternative payment mechanisms to bypass restrictive global financial systems.
Atabak concluded by stating that Iran views its cooperation with the EAEU as a long-term, strategic priority, expressing readiness to open a new chapter of economic and investment ties with member states.
