Rezaei said the Islamic Republic is going through a decisive period in its contemporary history and stressed the need for greater national unity, stronger deterrence and firm responses to threats.
Rezaei thanked Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei for his confidence and the president for his support, saying he viewed his new responsibility as a serious trust before the Iranian people, the country’s martyrs and the Islamic Republic.
He said Iran would not retreat from the rights and interests of its people in the face of threats and called for decisions to be made with greater strength, careful assessment, prudence and courage.
“The objective is not merely to overcome a sensitive and difficult period, but to ensure that Iran emerges from this stage safer, more united, more powerful and with greater capacity for progress and development,” Rezaei said.
He stressed that Iran’s national security should be viewed alongside the welfare and livelihood of its people, economic stability, social cohesion, defensive capabilities, diplomatic strength and social capital.
“All these components together constitute Iran’s national power and must serve one common goal: protecting Iran, the Islamic Revolution and its values, as well as the glorious future of the Iranian people,” he said.
On foreign policy, Rezaei said Tehran would focus on strengthening its deterrence capabilities, resisting pressure from its adversaries and responding “swiftly and decisively” to any aggression, while pursuing Iran’s national interests through diplomacy and maintaining readiness against threats.
He also described national unity and solidarity between the Iranian people and officials as a “strategic necessity,” saying Iran needed trust, cohesion and prudent decision-making to overcome the current period.
