The Memorandum of Understanding on the development of cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan was signed at the end of the eighth meeting of the Joint Border Trade Committee after two days of talks between the delegations of the two countries in Quetta.

Iran Press/ Asia: The heads of the Iranian and Pakistani delegations signed a memorandum of understanding at the end of the eighth meeting of the Joint Border Trade Committee at the Iranian Consulate General in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan Province in southwestern Pakistan.

Mandana Zanganeh, Deputy Governor of Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan Province for economic affairs as the head of the Iranian delegation, and Abdul Waheed Marwat, Head of Pakistan's Balochistan Customs, signed a memorandum of understanding between the two countries' Joint Border Trade Committee.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides stressed the facilitation of customs measures, coordination to remove barriers to trade, development of border markets, fight against human and drug trafficking.

The Governor of Pakistan's Balochistan Province Amanullah Khan Yasinzai also attended the final stage of the meeting and stressed the importance of deepening Iran-Pakistan relations, especially between the two border provinces.

He added that the Pakistani government is committed to expanding its interactions with its neighbors, especially Iran.

The ninth meeting of the Iran-Pakistan Joint Border Trade Committee will be hosted and held by Iran in Zahedan city in September 2021.
