Khorramabad (IP) - Broken Bridge (Shapuri) of Khorramabad, the capital of Lorestan province, western Iran, was built during the first Sassanid Shapur. The broken bridge of Khorramabad is the only ancient bridge in the world that is made entirely of stone.

Iran Press/Iran news: This historic bridge, which is more than 300 meters long and around 11 meters high, is one of the largest stone bridges in Iran, which was built to cross the caravan and Iranian troops from the Susa region to Hegmataneh (Hamadan).

Broken Bridge or Shapuri Bridge is one of the architectural masterpieces of the Sassanid period and the first Sassanid Shapur.

Shapuri Bridge is located on the south side of the historic Falak-ol-Aflak Castle in the south of Khorramabad city and only a few parts remain due to floods and other events.

Shapuri bridge, brick bridge, Dokhtar bridge, Kashkan, and Gaumishan bridges are among the historical bridges of Lorestan province and have unique architecture and bridging art.

Lorestan province with various historical-tourism capacities is one of the important destinations for tourists in western Iran. 101
