Army seized two cargo of smuggled weapons in Western Iranian border

Two cargo of smuggled weapons and ammunition discovered and seized in the western Iranian province of Kermanshah by the Iranian Army.

Iran Press/ Iran News:  Commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Force, Brigadier General Kioumars Heidari who is in Kermanshah city for an official visit said that two consignments of smuggled arms have been discovered by operational units of the force in western border areas.

According to Brigadier General Heidari the consignments included items that could be used in terrorist acts.

Considering enemies' plot to develop riots in the country, the smugglers tried to take cargos to the country, he explained.

Heidari said western borders are in full security and the army's different units are on alert in the area.

On 27, Dec 2019 Iranian intelligence forces have confiscated a haul of weaponry and ammunition in the border city of Javanrud in the western province of Kermanshah.

A week later in Dec 2019, intelligence forces had seized a consignment of US-made weapons including 126 riot (pellet) guns, firearms, and AK-47 as well as 900 live rounds in the central city of Isfahan smuggled from the western border.

Kermanshah province with two million population has 371 kilometers of common borders with Iraq.
