The Iranian General Staff of the Armed Forces condemned In response to recent Trump administration move to designate Iranian foreign minister

In response to recent Trump's administration move to designate Iranian foreign minister, Iran’s General Staff of the Armed Forces condemned it in its statement and described the move as the sign of weakness, inferiority, and desperateness.

Iran Press/Iran news: General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran said in its statement that “US imperialist regime in its continued lawless behavior and violation of international norms, tries in vain to compensate its successive defeats in region and the world by putting pressure on Iran and resorted to this undiplomatic and desperate action”.

Iran's Rouhani: So-called Super Power afraid of Zarif interview

“These days, US that is humiliated, isolated more than ever and lost its credibility with its own allies, tries to resort to some adventurist moves and behaviors which will have no results other than failure and ignominy that reveals its fake of advocacy for negotiation and dialogue more than ever; a face that rulers in the White House try to present it to the world community” statement read, reporetd Iran Press.

Iran’s General Staff of the Armed Forces went on saying that “In the recent months, US tried to aligned some countries to create a naval coalition in the strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf to put security of these two water bodies in jeopardy, as it did before; but overt and covert disagreement of Europeans with the idea has flared up the White House,” adding that “US government has shown once again that it adheres no principle and base in diplomatic relations and politicians in the White House lack the least political intelligence; they will be alone in this way and Iran will continue its path based on dignity, wisdom and expediency principles”.

The US administration has imposed sanctions on Iran's foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, in the latest effort by Washington to ratchet up its 'maximum pressure' campaign against Tehran; The US Treasury Department also said in its statement that Zarif is Iran's "primary spokesperson around the world," and that the ban "is sending a clear message that Iran's recent behavior is completely unacceptable.

Responding to the move, Iranian Foreign Minister said in a tweet that as the B-Team is afraid of dialogue & peace, designating him is a way to stop his words which may result in dialog and peace.

"We know that calling for dialog & peace is an existential threat to B-Team. And since reason for designating me is my words, would "US persons" need OFAC license to "engage" with me by reading my writings or listening to interviews?" Iranian FM Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted.

Zarif said "Everyone who knows me knows that I, or my family, do not own any property outside Iran. I personally do not even have a bank account outside Iran. Iran is my entire life and my sole commitment. So I have no personal problem with possible sanctions."

He added: "The only impact, and possibly the sole objective of a possible designation would be to limit my ability to communicate. And I doubt that would serve anyone. Certainly, it would limit the possibility of informed decision making in Washington."

Earlier, Washington took the dramatic step of sanctioning the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Trump administration has been increasing pressure on Iranian nation through sanctions, including measures that prevent Iran from selling oil. The US is apparently trying to persuade Tehran to come to the negotiating table to strike a deal to replace the 2015 nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action JCPOA that Trump unilaterally and unlawfully withdrew from last year. 203/212
