Russia’s national security adviser emphasized that Iran has a very important role in solving Syria's problems and fighting terrorism.

Iran Press/ Middle East: According to russkaya gazeta, Nikolay Patrushev, ahead of his visit to Israel on Monday, said that he intends to inform American and Israeli officials of Iran's positions on the settlement of the Syrian crisis.

“Iran is in Syria at the invitation of the legitimate government and is actively involved in fighting terrorism. Therefore, of course, we will have to take into account the interests of Iran,” Nikolay Patrushev said, Iran Press reported.

There is ample speculation about some “Grand Bargain” in which Russia would agree to drive Iran out of Syria in exchange for U.S. and Israeli recognition of the Syrian regime and U.S. lifting sanctions on Syria, opening the doors for the post-war international reconstruction funding.

The Russian authorities rejected these reports and described them as "ridiculous."
