Amman (IP) - In a meeting with the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the King of Jordan called for the beginning of a new chapter of bilateral relations and regional cooperation between the two countries.

Iran PressMiddle East: Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran is visiting Amman, the capital of Jordan, to participate in the conference on cooperation and partnership with Iraq known as "Baghdad 2".

Amir-Abdollahian and Jordan’s King Abdullah II met and conferred in Amman on Tuesday. The Crown Prince, Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and some Jordanian security officials were also present in this meeting.

Referring to Jordanian people's respect towards Iranians, the King of Jordan called for the beginning of a new chapter of bilateral relations and regional cooperation between the two countries.

The king of Jordan said that the success of the Muslim countries in the region depends on cooperation and partnership to establish mutually assured stability and security.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the second edition of a conference on Iraq in the Jordanian capital.

In his address to the conference, Amir-Abdollahian said that dialogue among regional countries to reach a mutual understanding for the establishment of peace and stability is not an option but a necessity.

The Iranian top diplomat expressed hope that the region will witness stability and prosperity in the light of holding such conferences.
