Iran Press/ Asia: During the meeting, Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani highlighted the Israeli-made tensions in the region, and told his counterpart that the tensions ongoing in the region were the result of the US support for the Israeli regime:
"The recent tensions in the region and the catastrophic situation in Gaza are the result of the US' destabilizing actions in the region and its support for the child-killing Zionist regime."
General Ashtian stressed the two sides' further cooperation and convergence to solve the regional and international security issues.
The Chinese Defense Minister, for his part, condemned the Israeli regime's air strike on the Iranian consulate building in Damascus and called it against international law.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a retaliatory strike on multiple locations in Israel early morning on April 14, in response to an Israeli terrorist attack. On 1 April 2024, an Israeli airstrike destroyed the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Syria, killing 16 people, including a senior Quds Force commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
He said that China would support Iran's legitimate response to the Israeli regime's strike.
Inviting the Defense Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran to participate in the Beijing Security Conference, China's Defense Minister stressed the continuation of security cooperation between the two sides as well as the expansion of defense and military bilateral ties.
He also called for the establishment of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
Since October 7 and the beginning of the all-out Israeli war on Gaza, over 34,000 people have been martyred and over 76,770 others have been wounded.
People in Gaza are simultaneously coping with both the Israeli strikes and the famine emerging out of the regime's war on Gaza. 219
