SNSC: Iran to continue reducing JCPOA obligations

The spokesman for the Supreme National Security Council of Iran said as long as the situation with the sale of oil and bank transactions does not return to the pre-US withdrawal conditions, the process of reducing the obligations of Iran within the 2015 nuclear agreement will continue.

Iran press/Iran news: Keyvan Khosravi made the comments in a note published on Wednesday.

On May 20, a number of the chief editors, editors and senior reporters of the leading media paid an extensive visit to the martyr Ahmadi Roshan enrichment complex at Natanz and got acquainted with the achievements and functions of the strategic complex various sections.

Keyvan Khosravi said: "The comprehensive and fascinating media reports of the visit, made headlines in regional and international media, and reflected a clear message about the will and the capabilities and capacities of Iran to implement new decisions on the issue and resolved some of the ambiguities of both insides," Iran Press reported.

He stated, "As the president said, steps would be taken successively and step by step along with a cease of Iran's commitments within the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), as stated by the High Council."

Last May, In line with protecting the security and national interests of the Iranian people, the Supreme National Security Council ordered a halt to the implementation of some parts of commitments of the Islamic Republic of Iran within (JCPOA) according to articles 26 and 36 of the agreement.

According to the decision of the Supreme National Security Council, Iran will no longer commit to the restrictions put on storage of enriched uranium and heavy water under the agreement.

The statement puts the blame for the possible failure of the JCPOA and any consequences thereof, squarely at the feet of the United States and the remaining parties to the nuclear deal who failed to carry out their obligations.

The move came exactly a year to the day US President Donald Trump withdrew America from the accord. 104/213
