Iran in full control of Persian Gulf: IRGC deputy commander

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps deputy commander said that US warships deployed to the Persian Gulf get permission for movements there from Iranian forces, who are in full control of the strategic waters.

Iran Press/Iran News: Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi downplayed Washington’s stepped-up belligerent rhetoric against the Islamic Republic, adding: “Everything north of the Strait of Hormuz- a major oil shipping waterway which connects the Persian Gulf to the Sea of Oman- is under our control.”

Deputy commander of IRGC emphasized that American navy ships cannot approach the Iranian controlled waters, Press TV Reported.

On May 20, US President Donal Trump once again threatened to attack Iran, just a few hours after saying that his country does not seek war with Tehran.

Fadavi explained about Iran's control over the Persian Gulf, saying that the crew members of these warships are even required to know Persian language and there are always interpreters aboard the ships and added: “This means power.”

Fadavi’s warning came a week after the American Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers USS McFaul and USS Gonzalez sailed through the Strait of Hormuz and entered the Persian Gulf without any incident amid tensions with Iran.

Iran has emphasized on having several options on the table to keep up its crude sales and counter Washington, including closing the Strait of Hormuz amid Iran-US tensions.

Tehran has said it will not be the initiator of any war, but reserves the right to self-defense and will give a crushing response to any act of aggression. 104/214
