Mashhad (IP) - Aid and donations by local people in Khorasan Razavi province have been dispatched to flood-stricken areas throughout the country.

Iran Press/Iran news: "Aid and donations by local people in Khorasan Razavi province have been sent to three flood-stricken provinces of Golestan, Khuzestan and Lorestan", the Head of Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation, Habibollah Asoude stated in an exclusive interview with Iran Press correspondent on Saturday.

Talking in Mashhad, northeast Iran on Saturday, Asoude said Khorasan Razavi province has been chosen as a 'helper province' to Golestan province, and thus the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation will construct 230 residential units in Gonbad city in Golestan.

He also noted that besides construction activities, the Foundation will send five essential household appliances and items such as television, refrigerator, heater, carpet, and a gas cooker to flood-affected families in Golestan province.

Heavy floods have affected at least 23 of the country’s 31 provinces since heavy downpours began on March 19.

Major floods have been reported in the provinces of Golestan, Mazandaran, Gilan, Kurdistan, Ilam, Lorestan, Fars, Northern Khorasan, Kermanshah, Khuzestan, Kohgiluyeh, and Boyer-Ahmad as well as Sistan and Balouchestan. 208/211/101
