The top commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has paid another visit to flood-hit districts of the northern province of Golestan.

Iran Press/Iran news: Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari arrived in Golestan Province, which has been severely affected by floods, on Saturday to inspect the relief operations by the armed forces.

Commenting on the steps taken by the IRGC forces to help the people in flood-hit areas he said: "The recent explosions by the IRGC are aimed at helping to drain the area and transfer floodwaters to the sea", Iran Press reported.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei earlier this week called on officials and the people to assist the flood-affected people.

Armed forces including the IRGC, Army, Basij, and Iran’s Red Crescent Society, and all other relief forces have been assisting the people in flood-hit regions since earlier this week.

As many as 42 people have lost their lives in the recent floods across the country this week, according to the head of Iran's Forensic Medicine Organization.

The floods, caused by torrential rain, have affected 25 of Iran’s 31 provinces in recent days, with Golestan in the north and Fars in the south, among the most severely affected.  105/211/201
