Iranian President said that the Supreme Leader, the government and the Majlis of Iran were determined to have close, brotherly relations with Iraq.

Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking in a meeting with the Speaker of Council of Representatives of Iraq Mohammed al-Halbousi on Wednesday, Hassan Rouhani added: "The presence of Iraqi officials in Iran, and especially the close parliamentary relations are very good opportunities for further development of relations."

He also stressed that Tehran is ready to cooperate with Baghdad in all fields, saying: "The historic relations between the two nations and the large number of tourists and pilgrims indicate cultural bonds between the two peoples", Iran Press reported.

President Rouhani also congratulated the Iraqi nation for clinching victory over the ISIS, and said: "We are ready to develop our cooperation and relations in economic and infrastructural fields."

At the same meeting, Speaker of Council of Representatives of Iraq Mohammed al-Halbousi said: "We are against any kind of sanctions and siege against the Islamic Republic of Iran."

Appreciating Iran for supporting Iraq in its fight against terrorism, he said: "We believe that the development of relations between the two countries contributes to stability in the region as well." 104/202
