Iran’s Persepolis FC managed a 1-1 draw with Uzbekistan's Super League runners-up Pakhtakor Tashkent in a Group D game of the AFC Champions League 2019 at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran on Tuesday evening.

Iran Press/Iran news: Persepolis were the runners-up in the 2018 edition of the Asian Champions League having lost out to Kashima Antlers FC in the final and were looking to go one step better this time around in the continental championship.

Meanwhile, the Tashkent-based Pakhtakor made the semifinals of the AFC Champions League twice — back in 2003 and 2004.

Two sides met in front of a partisan crowd at a packed Azadi Stadium in Tehran, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
