The Leader of the Islamic revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has issued a message of condolence on Tuesday following the death and injury of a number of university students in a tragic bus accident in Tehran.

Iran news: According to an Iran Press report, the Leader's message of condolence is as follows: 

The tragic incident today (Tuesday 25 December) which led to the death of nine dear university students, and the injury of a number of others is very painful, sad and deplorable.

I express my sympathies and condolences to the victims of this tragedy and their families, to the academic community in general, to all university staff and students, and to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones, and I wish a speedy recovery for all those injured in this tragic incident. I beseech God to give patience to all those grieving families who have lost their loved ones.

A bus carrying university students veered off the road, hit a concrete wall, and turned upside down midday Tuesday, at Tehran Azad University science and research centre, in northwestern Tehran, killing nine university students, and injuring 26 others.  

The tragic incident happened lunchtime on Tuesday 25 December.

Sadly some of the injured are said to be in a serious condition, and it is possible that the death toll may rise further.

Police have said the cause of the accident is uncertain, but it is being investigated. A team of Police experts are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic accident.

The Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani  and the foreign ministry spokesman, Bahram Ghassemi, have also issued condolence statements, expressing their condolences to the families of the victims of this tragedy, as well as university staff and students, and the Iranain nation.   211 / 103
