Iran's ambassador to London has said Washington's offer to negotiate with Tehran sits awkwardly alongside its policy of sanctions against Iran and putting pressure on other countries to avoid business with Tehran.

Iran Press/Iran News: Iran's ambassador to London, Hamid Baeidinejad, in an interview with CNN said: “We see a big contradiction in US policies toward Iran, as it is seeking to hold dialogue with Iran on the one hand, and sets impossible conditions for talks on the other.”

He said, “US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said that if Iran wants to feed its people, it should agree with the US. Such a language is not understandable."

Referring to the impact of US sanctions against Iran, Baeidinejad added: "The new sanctions policy of the United States has failed."

According to the Iranian ambassador, the difference between this round of the sanctions and those before is that this time round many countries are not ready to comply with US demands.

The waivers that the US granted to avoid Iranian oil sanctions prove that America "has failed to create a consensus," Baeidinejad said.

He added: “We have gradually found ways to ensure export of our oil. We have a lot of alternatives and our experience from the past, helps us to find ways around the sanctions."
