Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif received the Dutch foreign ministry's political director, Andre Haspels on Tuesday afternoon in Tehran.

Iran News: According to Iran Press,  Zarif and Haspels discussed the latest regional and international developments, including the situation in Syria and Yemen as well as bilateral issues including promotion of economic cooperation and the issues surrounding the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Haspels' visit to Tehran comes at a time when the European countries are seeking to launch a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), a new financial mechanism to guarantee Iran's economic interests as stipulated in the JCPOA.

The Iranian foreign minister said a few days ago that the Europeans have failed to implement their side of the bargain so far. Zarif said the EU governments are not yet ready to enforce a political commitment while simultaneously paying its economic costs to maintain the nuclear deal.
