Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, heading a political-military delegation, is to visit Pakistan soon after returning from his visit to Turkey on Tuesday.

Iran news: According to an Iran Press report, foreign ministry spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said on Tuesday that during his visit, Zarif will be kept abreast of the steps taken by the Pakistani government so far, to locate and free the kidnapped Iranian border guards.

He will also hold talks with the Pakistani side on bilateral relations and the most important regional and international events, added Ghasemi.

On 24 October, Iranian foreign ministry spokesman said Tehran expects the new government in Pakistan to take prompt action to secure the release of the abducted border guards.

"We expect the new Pakistani government to take acceptable and positive steps to resolve the first major incident which has taken place during Imran Khan's premiership in the relations between Iran and Pakistan," said Iran's foreign ministry spokesman.

On 16 October, fourteen Baseej (volunteer) forces and border guards were kidnapped between 4 to 5 am, in the early hours of Tuesday morning, in "Loulakdan", very close to the border, on the Iranian side of the border with Pakistan. Loulakdan is a village about 50 kilometers east of the major town of MirJaveh, and is considered a suburb of MirJaveh.
