The vice chair of the legal and judicial committee of the Iranian parliament, Dr. Yahya Kamalipour, has called on the Iranian government to bring in fresh faces into its policy-making economic team, arguing that the current team is dysfunctional and unable to perform its duties.

In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Sunday, the vice chair of the legal and judicial committee of the Iranian parliament, Dr. Yahya Kamalipour, expressed concern about fluctuations in foreign exchange and currency values which had adversely affected Iran's economy. He said the public is worried about this, and the Iranian parliament (Majlis ) is currently trying to address this issue, by making proposals to steady the economy. The senior Iranian parliamentarian, representing Jiroft, a town in southern Iran , added:  "The general consensus within the Iranian parliament (Majlis ) is that highly-qualified fresh faces need to be introduced within the policy-making economic team, arguing that the current team is dysfunctional and unable to provide the government with accurate advice and the right policy decisions to get the economy back on track.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Dr. Yahya Kamalipour, said some parliamentarians in the Majlis feel that a powerful behind-the-scene entity is opposing government policy, and countering what the government is trying to achieve.  We need to identify this "opposing current and deal with it".

Turning to Iran's judiciary, the senior MP criticized the performance of the Judiciary, saying they are acting too slow to deal with  corruption cases, and to mete out justice to those who have deliberately harmed Iramn's ecopnomy.  Kamalipour added:  "The public rightly expects the government, the parliament (Majlis ) and the judiciary to be more forthright and decisive, to take action to steady  the economy, bringing it back on track.  A case in point being those shop owners, retailers and businesses who hoard essential items and goods, those who refuse to sell and have hoarded large quantities of goods in warehouses, effectively driving up prices and inflation, the courts of law need to act quickly and decisively to deal with these individuals, thereby deterring others from following suit."

The MP for Jiroft went on to urge the government to revamp and restructure its  economic team, and said the parliament (Majlis ) and the judiciary are both ready to help the government  in this regard.
