Navy Commander of Iran Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi held a meeting with his Qatari counterpart to discuss bilateral issues and to invite Qatar to participate in a naval war game.

Iran PressMiddle East:  Commander of the Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi in a meeting with his Qatari counterpart invited the Arab country’s navy to attend an upcoming maritime exercise of the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) as an observer.

In the meeting, Iran's navy commander pointed to the two-year presidency of the Iranian Navy at the IONS and invited Qatar’s navy to take part as observer in the IONS maritime exercise, which will be held in the northern parts of the Indian Ocean later this Iranian calendar year (ends on March 20, 2020).  

Iran's Khanzadi is in Doha to hold talks on renewing an agreement on cooperation among the two countries' naval forces.

Earlier in his recent trip to Pakistan, Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi called for collective cooperation and vigilance of neighboring countries to foil the undermining and destabilizing measures by the enemies, stressing that the region would be safer without the presence of foreign troops.

In this regard, in his meeting with Chinese Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff Department Lieutenant General Shao Yuanming, Admiral Khanzadi announced the upcoming joint navy wargames by Iran, Russia, and China in the Indian Ocean, noting that the drills aim to achieve collective security and contribute to the consolidation of the security in the northern region of the Indian Ocean. 104/219
