Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in a message to the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting, emphasized the Eurasian Union’s role in Iran’s economy.

He noted that the aggression against Iran, the genocide in Gaza, the brutal attacks on Lebanon, and many other ongoing international challenges and crises must receive more serious attention from the international community.

Iran continues to believe in regional multilateral mechanisms and frameworks formed by the countries of the region themselves, without dependence on disruptive extra-regional powers, he added.

Pezeshkian also said that economic convergence and regional cooperation are the keys to sustainable growth and shared prosperity.

“Our constant effort has been to remain an effective and reliable member and partner in regional arrangements and blocs,” the president added.

He noted that Iran’s active participation in frameworks such as the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), BRICS, the Organization of Eight Developing Countries (D-8), the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD), the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is evidence of this approach.

“Undoubtedly, among these, the Eurasian Economic Union holds a special place in the foreign policy and economic diplomacy of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he stated.
