Tehran (IP) - Iran's government spokesman said that the security of Syria and Turkey borders should be in the hands of the Syrian Army.

Iran Press/Iran news: "We called the Turkish officials to be more restrained and we believe that the security of the Syrian-Turkish border should be provided by the Syrian army and the army should be there," Ali Rabiei said. answering to Iran Press question on contents of Iran's foreign minister's call to his Turkish counterpart, Mevlüt Çavu?o?lu.

Speaking on the sidelines of the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, he added "Turkey is a friend for Iran and we have a lot in common with them in the region. The focus is on the way they are acting. We believe that Idlib is more important for us, and the Syrian army should be deployed at the borders."

The Government spokesman also confirmed that in a telephone conversation between the Iranian and Turkish foreign ministers, Mohammad Javad Zarif urged his Turkish counterpart to be "cautious and patient and not to go ahead with an invasion of Syrian territory."

Zarif told his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavu?o?lu that Iran believes it is the duty of the Syrian army to patrol the areas of Syrian territory which are close to the Turkish border.

Turning to Syria, Rabiei said: "Iran welcomes the news that US forces are getting out of Syria," adding that Iran views this as positive news.

In further comments, Rabiei said environmental issues are important and for that, a number of relevant government ministry and agencies, such as the Health Ministry and Environment Protection Agency, have reached a decision about how to handle hospital waste, and what to do with such waste. 101/216
