The joint chief of staff of Iran's armed forces Major General Mohammad Bagheri has stressed the need to develop a civilian aircraft manufacturing industry, saying we need to manufacture civilian aircraft as well as military ones.

Iran news/ In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Tuesday, the  joint chief of staff of Iran's armed forces Major General Mohammad Bagheri said the security and the calm we see in Iran today is precisely because Iran's armed forces are doing a wonderful job in protecting Iran's borders and safeguarding the nation.

Major General Bagheri added: "Although it appears that Iran does not have the financial strength of some major Western powers, but nonetheless, we feel deeply secure and calm in this country, and thanking the Lord, this shows the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic are doing a wonderful job protecting the borders of this country."

Major General Bagheri pointedly added: "There is no doubt about America's hostility towards Iran. The enemies are using new methods and new systems and weaponry, and Iran's armed forces can safeguard this nation only when they advance, step-for-step, or even ahead of the enemy, identifying and countering the new methods used by the enemy."

In further remarks the joint chief of staff of Iran's armed forces said in the non-military field too, we have excellent capabilities in the defence ministry aerospace division, and we need to provide the resources needed by our scientists and engineers to advance in the field of non-military aircraft.  He added: "We need to manufacture civilian aircraft as well as military aircraft."
