The Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan and the directors of some of the economic companies of this autonomous republic exchanged views on the expansion of bilateral economic cooperation.

Iran Press/Asia: The office of Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic announced on Thursday 7 May: Seyyed Ahmad Hosseini, the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Nakhchivan met with the managers of some of the economic companies based in this autonomous republic, through a video conference. The two sides discussed ways to expand economic cooperation.

In this meeting, which was also attended by the managers of some Iranian manufacturing companies, the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan while emphasizing the importance of expanding economic cooperation, expressed hope that bilateral economic cooperation would be further developed.

The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic borders the Islamic Republic of Iran, Turkey and Armenia. Nakhchivan, with an area of 5,502 square kilometers and a population of nearly 700,000, it is an autonomous republic in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Nakhchivan's land connection with the Republic of Azerbaijan has been cut off due to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and is currently connected to the mainland via Iranian territory.
