Urmia (IP) - Iran's Senior Kabaddi team has performed well in the 2023 World Championship and has reached the finals.

Iran PressIran news: Kabaddi is a combative sport, with seven players on each side; played for 40 minutes with a 5 minutes break (20-5-20). The core idea of the game is to score points by raiding into the opponent’s court and touching as many defense players as possible without getting caught on a single breath.

The second round of the 2023 Kabaddi World Championship is underway in Urmia of Western Azerbaijan, northwestern Iran. 

The President of the Asian Kabaddi Federation Abbas Avarsaji told Iran Press that athletes from 12 countries with four teams were participating in the competitions.  

Avarsaji noted that the main goal of the 2023 Kabaddi World Championship was the expansion of peace and friendship in the world. 

He said that putting the kabaddi in the Olympic games is on the agenda.

The Secretary General of the Asian Kabaddi Confederation Mohammad Sarvar is the special guest at the sporting event underway in Kish Island of Hormozgan, southern Iran.
