Tehran (IP) – Eutelsat Corporation will suffer a loss of several million euros due to not broadcasting Iranian and Russian programs.

Iran PressEurope: A few weeks after the European Union imposed sanctions on Iran, the French satellite corporation, Eutelsat, removed the English-language news channel "Press TV."

On November 14, 2022, under the pretext of supporting democracy, the European Union sanctioned the Press TV and broadcasting activities related to IRIB, along with Iranian individuals and organizations.

Meanwhile, Eutelsat announced that following the suspension of several TV programs in Iran and Russia, the company would incur costs of around 10-15 million euros in its annual revenues.

The satellite company stated in a statement that it has stopped broadcasting three Russian programs as well as all broadcasting activities related to the IRIB.

Eutelsat's action to cut off "Press TV" programs, which is contrary to the principle of media freedom, is not new to IRIB World Service because, in recent years, it has been pressured many times by satellite service providers under false pretexts.
