Tehran (IP) - The Deputy Chairman of the Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission says Iran plays a key role in aerospace and nano and biotechnologies.

Iran PressIran News: On Saturday, Iran's Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) successfully launched a new satellite-carrying rocket, the Ghaem-100.

The flight test of this satellite carrier with a solid-fueled engine was successfully completed.

The Ghaem-100, Iran's first three-stage launch vehicle, will be able to place satellites weighing 80 kilograms (176 pounds) in an orbit of 500 kilometers (310 miles) from the earth's surface.

On the sidelines of the parliament's open chamber, Abbas Moghtadaei, in an exclusive interview with Iran Press, stated that launching the Ghaem-100 satellite indicates that Iran has made great strides in scientific and technological fields, depending on its domestic capabilities.

The lawmaker further stressed: "Iran is among the few global countries to achieve great technological fields and will continue to do so."

He reiterated: "As always, enemies' plots are doomed to fail to present Iran insecure."

Referring to the glorious presence of Iranians to mark the 'National Day of Fighting Global Arrogance' held on Friday, he noted that Iranians-government support is unique worldwide.

Aban 13 (November 4) is the National Day of Fighting Global Arrogance in Iran, on which Iranians gather together in rallies to commemorate the day.

On Aban13, 1358 AH (Nov 4, 1979), Iranian students took over the US embassy in Tehran.

On the same day the previous year, the security forces of the Shah regime killed a group of Iranian high school and university students.
