Moscow(IP)- The meeting of the joint commission for economic cooperation between Iran and Russia, which is considered the biggest economic event of the two countries, is being hosted by Russia.

Iran PressEurope: According to Iranpress correspondent, the 16th edition of the joint commission meeting for economic cooperation between Iran and Russia has officially started on Monday with the presence of the Iranian and Russian heads of this commission and economic delegations.

Iran's oil minister, Javad Owji, and Russia's deputy prime minister, Alexander Novak, are involved in the event as the heads of the joint commission for economic cooperation between the two countries.

 

 

"Ahmad Asadzadeh", The Caretaker of the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum's Department for International Affairs and Trading  , told Iranpress correspondent in Russia that at the same time as the meeting of the joint commission for economic cooperation between Iran and Russia, 10 working groups have been formed and two main documents are being negotiated.

Asadzadeh emphasized that the protocol document and the road map document are being negotiated, and in the road map document, all issues and joint plans of cooperation between Iran and Russia have been discussed in detail in order to lead to the expansion of economic cooperation with a clear goal.

The Caretaker of the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum's Department for International Affairs and Trading stated that the issue of SWIFT agreement between Iran and Russia is one of the important issues discussed in the joint commission for economic cooperation between the two countries in Russia.

"Mohsen Shiravand", Deputy Minister of Commercial Development of the Ministry of Jihad and Agriculture of Iran, also told the Iranpress correspondent that Iran and Russia, as two important and influential countries in the region, have a serious determination to develop economic and commercial exchanges.

Shiravand stressed that agricultural and dairy products are the major part of trade between Iran and Russia, and this sector plays an important role in the expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries.

Iran, Russia agree to create free trade zone

The Caretaker of the Secretariat of Iran's Supreme Council of Free Trade-Industrial and Special Economic Zones says Tehran and Moscow are pursuing the creation of joint free trade zones.

Nasrollah Ebrahimi told Iran Press correspondent in Russia that in the project's first step, a joint free zone was supposed to be established between Anzali Free Zone in Iran and Lotus Special Free Zone in Russia's Astrakhan.

The issue is on the agenda during the joint commission meeting for the economic cooperation between Iran and Russia.

 

 

According to Ebrahimi, a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of a joint free trade zone is to be signed between Russia's Minister of Economic Development and the Secretariat of the Supreme Council of Free Trade-Industrial and Special Economic Zones in Russia.

He also reported that a hub of production, transit, transportation, and exports between Iran and Russia is being pursued in a special framework.
