Iran PressIran News: Iran and Russia share strategic interests in bilateral fields, especially economic, military, and security relations, as well as regional and international issues such as confronting American unilateralism, and this has been one of the main factors of close cooperation between the two sides in recent years.

According to the Iran Press News Agency, Mahdi Safari, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy, pointed out the capacities of cooperation between Iran and Russia and added that about 6.5 billion dollars from the memoranda of understanding between Iran and Russia's Gazprom company had been converted into a contract.

Safari also said Iran would not hand the channel to any country to construct the high-pressure pipeline. Still, the Russians will invest in this project.

Deputy Minister of Economic Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran added that Russian companies would build gas pipelines in Pakistan so that gas can be exported from Iran to Pakistan.

Safari clarified that soon a joint company between Iran and Russia would be established to build a gas pipeline to the countries along the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, where the share of the two countries is 50%, and the Russians will build the unique technology for the construction of the marine pipeline in this project.

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy noted that, in addition to economic benefits and reducing the cost of gas transit from the south of Iran to the north to supply fuel to the northern provinces, the Russian gas swap would increase political solidarity between the countries of Iran, Russia and intermediate countries including Turkmenistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
