The commemoration ceremony was held at the Darur Rahma Martyrs' Cemetery, where Hurras security volunteers staged a ceremonial parade. A dramatic reenactment of the 2014 shooting also brought many attendees to tears.
Addressing the gathering, Sheikh Zakzaky paid tribute to the late Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, describing him as the "Leader of the martyrs of this era." He traced the history of Quds Day back to Imam Khomeini, framing it as a global initiative for Palestinian liberation.
The Islamic Movement leader recounted the tragic events in Zaria, where soldiers killed 33 unarmed members, including three of his own sons. He also highlighted the death of Christian bystander Julius Anyawu, who was fatally shot for objecting to the unlawful killings.
Sheikh Zakzaky stressed that ongoing persecution will never deter Nigerians from advocating for Palestine. Turning to the U.S.-imposed war on Iran, he commended the Iranian nation for their unprecedented resilience and courage, expressing his belief that the current conflict marks the beginning of the end for U.S. and Israeli oppression.
