Iran Press/ Iran News: Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has traveled to Iran for a two-day visit at the head of a high-level delegation on Sunday afternoon.
Emom Ali Rahmon is in Iran to have consultations with his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi, and to sign documents of cooperation in the economic, scientific, political, and cultural fields.
Leader says paying heed to internal capacities nullifies sanctions
The leader of the Islamic Revolution called the sanctions a tyrant's weapon against nations, noting that paying heed to internal capacities deactivates this weapon.
Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the potential for expanding Iran-Tajikistan cooperation in various fields is far beyond the current level, and the mutual relations should undergo a fundamental change, given the Iranian government's policy of strengthening ties with neighbors.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution called the two countries as relatives and brothers, referring to the deep historical, religious, cultural and linguistic commonalities between Iran and Tajikistan.
Ayatollah Khamenei praised the Tajik president's efforts to disseminate the Persian language.
The Leader referred to President Raisi's first foreign visit to Tajikistan and said that the visit shows the government's commitment to expanding ties with Tajikistan, and in the past [Iranian] year, the level of relations has increased, but it is far from the desired point.
Ayatollah Khamenei assessed Iran's technical, engineering, industrial and scientific capacities as potential and important to help Tajikistan, and pointed out that in order to use these capacities and expand cooperation, the Joint Commission should seriously plan and schedule all the signed documents to reach the operational stage.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution described the diverse climate of Iran and the vast lands and plains, the scientific, technological and industrial developments and knowledge-based companies in Iran, as well as abundant water and extensive mines in Tajikistan as grounds for promoting cooperation.
Ayatollah Khamenei added: "Despite the sanctions, the Islamic Republic of Iran has made good progress in various fields; if it were not for the sanctions, these improvements would not have been achieved because the sanctions made us rely on our internal strengths and capacities."

Underlining that one of the areas of cooperation and consensus between Iran and Tajikistan is regional issues, especially the situation in Afghanistan, Ayatollah Khamenei said: "Iran and Tajikistan share common concerns about Afghanistan, and both countries are concerned about the spread of terrorism and the growth of takfiri groups in the country; we believe that those now in power in Afghanistan should be able to use all groups with a comprehensive government."

Senior officials of Iran and Tajikistan in the presence of Ebrahim Raisi and Emomali Rahmon signed 17 cooperation documents in the fields of politics, economy, trade, transportation, investment, new technologies, environment, sports, energy, judiciary, education, and research and tourism.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution also referred to the recent visit of the Chief of General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces to Tajikistan and the opening of a UAV factory, and considered such cooperation important and noted that today, UAVs are an important factor in the security of countries.
In the meeting, which President Ebrahim Raisi also attended, Emomali Rahmon expressed his satisfaction with being in Tehran and meeting with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
The Tajik president, for his part, referred to his talks with the President Raisi and stated that good talks were held in various fields, including trade, economic and industrial relations, and expressed hope that with the guidance of Ayatollah Khamenei, the relations between the two countries would further expand according to the signed documents.

The Iranian and Tajik authorities are in constant contact for bilateral relations and regional issues, and have so far signed two security agreements in addition to economic treaties and memoranda; during the recent visit of Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Bagheri to Tajikistan, the Ababil 2 Iranian UAV production plant was inaugurated in Dushanbe with the aim of developing joint defense and military cooperation.
He cited security concerns, especially about Afghanistan and the spread of terrorism, as important issues between the two countries and said: "We want peace and tranquility and a government in Afghanistan with the presence of all ethnic groups, and we hope that concerns can be overcome by increasing security cooperation between Iran and Tajikistan."
