Convergence in Iran-Tajikistan relations has strengthened in the last two years; the visit of the President of Iran to Tajikistan in September 2021 marked a new chapter in the comprehensive cooperation between Tehran and Dushanbe, during which eight cooperation documents in various fields were signed between the two countries.

Continuing unrest in some parts of West Asia, the US withdrawal from the region, as well as the Ukraine war, have increased the need for regional countries to converge to counter the threats as well as to create economic opportunities.

The Iranian administration is also trying to reduce tensions and differences, as well as strengthening convergence in the region, by emphasizing the priorities of the region and Muslim countries and increasing interactions and trade relations with these countries.
