The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament says Iran is interested in boosting cooperation, particularly in the economic areas, with Venezuela despite the far distance between the two countries.

Iran PressIran news: On Monday, the Speaker of Iran's Parliament Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf and Venezuela's Foreign Minister Felix Placencia met, holding talks to boost cooperation. 

In the meeting, Ghalibaf referred to Iran's experiences in fighting the US sanctions and stressed: "It is the duty of the governments and parliaments of the two countries to bring together the private and public sectors to provide the suitable ground for cooperation in the tourism, agriculture, technical services and engineering."

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister, for his part, stressed the further shore-up of Iran-Venezuela relations, including the parliamentary ties.

Venezuela is interested in strengthening economic relations with Iran. In the coming months, we plan to hold a meeting of the Joint Economic Commission of Iran and Venezuela to boost economic ties between the two countries and cooperate more in mutual interest areas.

Placencia highlighted the common spirit of anti-imperialism of Iran and Venezuela, expressing hope for more cooperation against global arrogance. 

Placencia also met his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and had a joint press conference on Monday, stressing the investment of Iranian private sector companies. 219
