Baku (IP) - Iran's President said that the country welcomes any project and action that will lead to the development of relations between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, noting that grounds should be prepared to facilitate communication and exchanges between the people of the two countries.

Iran PressAsia: Receiving Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafa in Tehran on Monday, Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation, and historical and cultural commonalities of the two sides, and said: "You are our brothers, and the development of relations between the two countries is of great value to us."

He emphasized respecting the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan and stated: "We believe that the sovereignty of any country should not be ignored, on the other hand, we do not consider it in the best interests of the countries of this region to let the other countries to interfere in the region, because we believe that we can cooperate. Let's solve the security and related issues and this is the fundamental policy of the Iranian government, which we have always emphasized."

Emphasizing the necessity of speeding up the implementation of understanding between the two countries, the President added: "In the meeting with the officials of other neighboring countries and the Islamic countries of the region, I have emphasized that we must provide an opportunity to facilitate communication and exchanges between people." In this regard, we welcome all projects that further develop the relations between Islamic countries.

Saying that to strengthen and promote security, peace, and communication between countries, there is no need to build walls on the borders, he clarified: "The markets of Islamic countries should be open to each other and businessmen should work together easily."

He further emphasized improving the level of cooperation between the two countries and said: "We welcome the establishment of railway and highway routes between the two countries and also want the continuation and expansion of cooperation in the fields of energy and agriculture, and we adhere to what has been agreed upon in these fields."

In this meeting, Shahin Mustafa, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, announced his country's readiness to expand relations with Iran and said: "On behalf of the President of Azerbaijan, I am announcing that I want to expand relations with Iran in the fields of economy, trade, and swap lines." 

He stated that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, wants to strengthen peace and stabilize peace in the region. The negotiation between the countries of the region should be resolved.

Shahin Mustafa, announcing his country's readiness to continue extensive cooperation with Iran and implement previous agreements, pointed to the holding of an international meeting in Baku on climate change soon and invited Masoud Pezeshkian to participate in this meeting.
