The Deputy Chief coordinator of the Iranian Army has emphasized Iran's hosting of China and Russia, the two major military powers in the region, especially in terms of their naval power, which indicates Iran's rising naval clout.

Iran Press/Iran news: Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari who attended a news conference on Saturday dedicated to the on-going joint naval drills with Russia and China, reiterated that thanks to the Islamic Revolution, Iran has become a naval power to be reckoned with, and various countries are counting on the Iranian Navy, hold joint naval exercises with the Islamic Republic, and they freely acknowledge the power and authority of Iran's Armed Forces.

He said the naval exercises are being conducted in the northern Indian Ocean which is one of the strategic regions of the world, Iran Press reported.

He referred to the region of the military exercise, as well as the golden triangle consisting of the strategic Straits of Hormuz, Malacca, and Bab ul-Mandab, saying: "The region is a crucial maritime route for energy transmission, and the world depends on this, so its security is of utmost importance for the world including Iran because commercial shipping and exports and imports are carried out through the golden triangle."

Admiral Sayyari pointed to Iran's maritime borders and its access to the Indian Ocean and said: "Iran has done a lot to ensure the security of the region."

"To date, we have escorted more than 5,000 merchant ships and rescued more than 5 countries from pirates, including a Chinese ship. Today, Iran's fight against piracy in the High Seas is an honor and a testament to the Iranian navy's authority," noted Admiral Sayyari, pointing to the Iranian Navy's efforts to maintain the security of commercial ships in the region. 101/211/207
