Iranian potters' products are the interface between people and art.

The history of the art of pottery in Iran goes back to ancient times. When agriculture came into existence and cultivation started on Iran's plateau, people made utensils out of baked clay in order to meet their needs.

Iranian pottery production presents a continuous history from the beginning of Iranian history until the present day.

Yazd Province in central Iran is justly famous for its handicrafts and pottery.  One Iranian potter in Meybod County, Yazd Province, said: "The potters in Yazd are keen observers of nature, and this is reflected in their pottery.  They make wonderful artistic pots and pans, somehow transferring everything they see in nature onto their pots."

"We try to reflect the beauty of God and His creation through patterns in our pottery, and show it to the people."

Tourists who visit Yazd often buy handicrafts, including pottery.  One tourist who visited a pottery shop in Yazd said: "I like Iranian pottery because it is full of various colors."

In Iran pottery manufacture has a long and brilliant history. Due to the special geographical position of the country, being at the crossroads of ancient civilizations and on important caravan routes, almost every part of Iran was, at times, involved in pottery.
