Whay it matters:
The U.S. failure to open the Strait of Hormuz by force shows that its diminished dominance inthe region, as no European alies have shown tendency to accompanying it in the "Project Freedom."
The big picture:
The U.S.-Israeli war on Iran since 65 days ago has bring ther region to a point where the world's mot stretegic waterway is closed. Of course, the Islamic Republic of Iran has announced that the passage from the strait is possible for all vessels, but those linked to the U.S. and Israel, through getting prermission from the relevant Iranian authorities.
On the ground:
While the U.S. Navy claimed yesterday that it created a new transit corridor in the Strait of Hormuz for the safe passage of ships, satellite-based maritime tracking data show that no vessel has passed through the Strait in line with this project so far, and even the claimed passage of the Maersk ship has not yet been officially confirmed.
What we're hearing:
HFI Research, an oil and gas market data analysis institute, wrote in response to U.S. actions to “liberate” the Strait of Hormuz: Not a single ship is even attempting to test passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
Moreover:
Based on maritime tracking information from yesterday, when the alleged operation to “liberate” the Strait of Hormuz began, at least three Iran-linked vessels named Darya, “NOOH GAS,” and “XAVIA” passed through the strait .
