The Afghan Taliban has announced Jalaluddin Haqqani, founder of Haqqani network has died

Iran Press/Asia- Jalaluddin Haqqani, whose son Sirajuddin Haqqani now heads the group  died "after a long battle with illness", the Taliban said in a statement via Twitter.

Jalaluddin "was from among the great distinguished Jihadi personalities of this era," the Taliban added in the statement. 

Jalaluddin Haqqani was born 1939 at Paktia province in Afghanistan. during Soviet war in the 1980s, he was Afghan mujahideen commander and showed himself as an insurgent fighter internationally. The Haqqani network is an Afghan guerrilla group that fight against US-led NATO forces and the government of Afghanistan. He had close ties with Osama Bin Laden.
