Iran’s Cultural and Arts Exhibition opened in Baku late Wednesday in a ceremony attended by Iranian Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister Abbas Salehi and his Azeri counterpart.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Salehi said that the exhibition is underway in Baku as part of Iran’s Cultural Week in Azerbaijan, noting cultural weeks are usually held to help countries get acquainted with each other, but current cultural week is aimed showing solidarity between the two nations.

“The Iranian and Azeri nations have shared their joy and grief over thousand years and they have common religion, tradition and customs,” he said.

Azeri Culture Minister Abulfas Garayev also told the same event that there are good brotherly ties between the two countries’ officials and governments and cultural cooperation plays a major role in deepening relations.

He also described holding Iran’s cultural week in Baku, Ganjeh as well as the exhibition as a big gift to Azerbaijan cultural and arts circles.

Last year, Isfahan and Ardebil hosted Azerbaijan Cultural week.
