Arak Cultural Week started on October 2 and is underway until October 26.
Mirza Taghi Khan Farahani known as Amir Kabir born on 9 January 1807 in Arak. He was the chief minister to Naser E-Din Shah Qajar for the first three years of his reign.
During his era, Amir Kabir brought about many reforms to the governmental and social system of Iran. He is also the founder of the newspaper 'Vaqaye Etefaqiyeh' and the founder of the 'Dar al-Fonun' school.
