The spokesperson for Iran’s Judiciary announced that the recent terrorist attack by the Zionist regime on Evin Prison has resulted in 71 martyrs so far.

According to official statistics, the victims include prison staff, conscripted soldiers, inmates, families visiting prisoners, and residents living near the prison.

On July 22, 2025, the lawless Zionist regime once again demonstrated its disregard for international laws and commitments by launching a brutal terrorist attack on Evin Prison. In violation of international and humanitarian norms, the regime targeted several prison facilities, including the medical clinic, engineering building, visitation area, and the prosecutor’s office, with projectiles.

Asghar Jahangir, the Judiciary spokesperson, described the heinous crime as deeply distressing for every citizen. He emphasized that the Zionists committed a full-scale atrocity, severely impacting even residents living near the prison’s visitation and prosecutor’s office buildings.

Jahangir highlighted the extensive material and physical damage inflicted on neighboring residents, stating, “The Zionist attack caused significant financial and physical harm to those living close to the visitation area and prosecutor’s office. Tragically, some residents were also martyred in this attack, which clearly targeted civilians.”

Regarding the total number of martyrs, Jahangir explained that on the day of the attack, several families were visiting or handling legal matters for their imprisoned relatives. The visitation area was struck by projectiles, resulting in injuries and martyrdom among those present.

As of the latest update, Jahangir confirmed that 71 individuals have been martyred in the attack, including prison staff, soldiers, inmates, visiting families, and neighboring residents.

He added that numerous individuals were injured in the incident, with some treated on-site, others transferred to hospitals, and several requiring hospitalization for further treatment before being discharged.

This attack has sparked widespread condemnation, with Iran vowing to hold the Zionist regime accountable for its flagrant violation of international law and human rights.
