Arak (IP) – Ta'ziyeh recitation is a religious play based on historical and epic events about the Karbala event, performed in different parts of Iran with the beginning of the month of Muharram.

Iran PressIran news: Ta'ziyeh recitation began in the Safavid period in Iran. The ritual of reciting Ta'ziyeh was registered in the list of Iranian spiritual heritage in UNESCO in 2010.

A specialized museum of Iranian Ta'ziyeh recitation from the Safavid period to the present day has been established in Arak, the capital of Markazi Province in central Iran.

The museum consists of three sections: clothes, instruments, and copies of Ta'ziyeh; it displays more than 3,000 instruments, clothes, and historical documents of Ta'ziyeh recitation in Iran.
