Maximum pressure against Iran continue enev without Bolton, Steven Mnuchin says.

The United States is still pursuing the campaign of 'maximum pressure' against Iran, US Treasury Secretary said, noting that hard-line national security adviser John Bolton removal has no effect on US hostile policy against Iran.

Iran Press/America: Days after US President Donald Trump's hard-line national security adviser left the White House, Steven Mnuchin US Treasury Secretary said that the US still pursuing 'maximum pressure' against Iran.

Mnuchin, in an interview on CNBC on Thursday, also said that as of now there is no plan for Trump to meet with Iran President Hassan Rouhani at the United Nations General Assembly in New York later this month, although he reiterated that Trump was open to meeting Rouhani with no preconditions.

The US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he had fired national security adviser John Bolton after a string of disagreements, Iran Press reported.

While Bolton's departure drives hope for easing of Trump's failed 'maximum pressure' campaign on Iran, Washington announced new sanctions against Tehran.

"As the world—minus 3 or 2 panicked cohorts—was breathing a sigh of relief over the ouster of #B_Team's henchman in the White House, Pompeo & Mnuchin declared further escalation of #EconomicTerrorism against Iran," Mohammed Javad Zarif said in a tweet on Wednesday referring to the US new sanctions against Iran.

Describing Bolton as a warmonger-in-chief, Iran's Zarif noted that "Thirst for war—maximum pressure—should go with the warmonger-in-chief". 

The secretary of  Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Admiral Ali Shamkhani said on Wednesday that the historic and deep-rooted hostility of the US government against the Iranian nation is far beyond the role of some officials, adding, “both administrations of Barack Obama and Donald Trump were seemingly different but when it came to dealing with the Iranian nation, those governments pursued a similar strategy of sanctioning.
